Multi-Unit Franchisees Gather At Premiere Conference

Franchise Update's 17th annual Multi-Unit Franchising Conference just took Las Vegas by storm. The event, which grows larger each year, also set a new record for total number of attendees. The premiere conference routinely attracts the best and brightest in the world of multi-unit franchising who come for the educational opportunities, the networking and, of course, the fun.

This year's event was at Caesars Palace from April 23 through the 26. Two-and-a-half days of sessions and keynote speakers provided ample learning opportunities and the exhibit hall was packed with franchise brands and suppliers who were looking to connect with the top multi-unit franchisees in the country.

The stats from this year's conference highlight a dramatic and influential part of the U.S. economy. More than 1,600 registered for this year's conference, more than 700 of those were franchisees representing more than 500 franchise enterprises. All told, the 700 franchise operators oversee 12,000 units, employee more than 200,000 employees, and conduct $15 billion in business each year. These franchisees said they expect to add 4,000 more units in the next 12 months and 12,000 units over the next 5 years. Fifty percent of the franchisees operate 2 or more brands.

The conference's Platinum Sponsors were Arby's and Jersey Mike's. Gold Sponsors this year included Bojangles, Carl's Jr/Hardee's, La Madeleine, Buffalo Wings & Rings, Dunkin' Brands, IFA, Topper's, and Zaxby's. More than 220 franchise brands and suppliers sponsored the event.
